What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a safe and effective method of treatment which uses special needles that are inserted at selected points over the surface of the body. Acupuncture has been demonstrated to be especially effective in the treatment of pain associated with muscle spasm, soft tissue swelling or inflammation and certain types of arthritis. Acupuncture is also used in treating addictive habits such as smoking, alcoholism and drug abuse, as well as various other medical problems.

Acupuncture was discovered by the chinese more than four thousand years ago. Today, it is widely practiced throughout the world, expecially in Asia and Europe. Following President Nixon's trip to China in 1968, acupuncture became increasingly more popular in this country.
