INTRASPINAL
CATHETER LOCATION

intra-abdominal
catheter is tunneled to the vertebral canal and threaded to the
intradural space.
The
catheter is inserted into the intrathecal space; intraspinal
location, inside the dura and outside the spinal cord. This allows
optimal location for delivery of baclofen. This avoids blood
brain barrier reducing absortpion or penetration to the central
nervous system - there is now a direct delivery to the site of
action intraspinal gaba receptors. There is now possible a more
effective response at a lower concentration.
