Barbara Bumstead, M.S., ANP-C, MSCN
Ms. Bumstead, a Nurse Practitioner in our Comprehensive MS Care Center, here at South Shore Neurological Associates P.C., graduated from Nursing School in 1979 and received a Masters of Science in the Adult Health Nurse Practitioner program at SUNY Stony Brook in 1999. Ms. Bumstead has had extensive hospital experience in Neurology, Neurosurgery, and in the management of Intrathecal Baclofen therapy. She became a Multiple Sclerosis Certified Nurse (MSCN) in 2007. Ms. Bumstead joined our practice in 2001.
Patricia Grant, M.S., ANP-C
Ms. Grant is a Nurse Practitioner in the Pain Management Group here at South Shore Neurologic Associates, P.C. She is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and received her Nursing degree from Suffolk Community College in 1982, a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Molloy College in 1998, and a Master of Science in Adult Health Nursing from the SUNY–Stony Brook in 2002. Ms. Grant joined our practice in 2002.
Smitha Thotam, NP-C
Ms. Thotam is a Nurse Practitioner for the Comprehensive MS Care Center, here at South Shore Neurologic Associates, P.C. Ms. Thotam completed her Bachelor of Science degree with honors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, India in 1996. She is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and received a Master of Science in Adult Health Nursing from SUNY- Stony Brook in 2011. She has extensive experience in medical, surgical, rehabilitation, and critical care fields. Ms. Thotam joined our practice in 2011.
Laura Buck, M.S., NP-C, CNRN
Ms. Buck is the Nurse Practitioner for our Epilepsy Center, here at South Shore Neurologic Associates P.C. and is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Buck received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Fashion Institute of Technology in 1991, her nursing degree from Suffolk Community College in 2006, and Master of Science in Adult Health from SUNY- Stony Brook in 2011. Ms. Buck is a Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) from the American Association of Neuroscience Nursing. Ms. Buck joined our practice in 2011.
Marijean Buhse, NP-C, Ph.D
Dr. Buhse is a professor at Stony Brook University and Nurse Practitioner in our Comprehensive MS Care Center, here at South Shore Neurologic Associates P.C. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from SUNY Downstate, her Masters of Science in Nursing from Lehman College, her Post Masters Certificate from Adelphi University, and her Ph.D. in Nursing from Adelphi University. Ms. Buhse joined our practice in 2012.
Clifford Miller, M.S., FNP-BC
Mr. Miller is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. He received his master’s degree in Family Health from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from College Misericordia. His current practice includes general neurology as well as movement disorders. He has been actively involved in the care of persons with Parkinson’s disease and Essential Tremor and is experienced in the programming of deep brain stimulators. Mr. Miller joined our practice in 2003.
Danielle Salomone, M.S., ANP
Ms. Salomone has a Bachelors of Science in Physical Education/Physical Science from College of Charleston, a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from St. Xavier University, as well as a Masters of Science from the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at SUNY Stony Brook University. She is a Nurse Practitioner who assists our Physicians at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital as well as seeing patients at our practice. Ms. Salomone joined our practice in 2013.
Ms. Williams is a Family Nurse Practitioner here at South Shore Neurologic Associates, P.C. She received her Bachelors of Science 2005 and her M.S. in Family Nurse Practitioner in 2011 from Long Island University, Brooklyn. Ms. Williams worked in Urgent Care and Pediatrics at New York University Langone Medical Center as both a Nurse and Nurse Practitioner for over ten years. She has been with our practice since 2015.
Mr. Ippolito is a Nurse Practitioner in the Pain Management Group here at South Shore Neurologic Associates, P.C. Mr. Ippolito is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner who graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from SUNY Cortland in 2008, Associates in Nursing from Suffolk County Community College in 2013, and a Masters of Science in Primary Care Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner from SUNY Stony Brook University in 2017. He worked as a Registered Nurse for over five years before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, where he gained valuable knowledge on both medical and surgical procedures while seeing patients in Southampton Hospital and Eastern Long Island Hospital. Mr. Ippolito joined our practice in 2017.
Ms. Surprise is a Family Nurse Practitioner here at South Shore Neurologic Associates, P.C. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology from SUNY Old Westbury in 1997, an Associates Degree in Nursing from SUNY Farmingdale State University in 2000, and a Masters of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner from Molloy College in 2015. Ms. Surprise served as a Registered Nurse in Psychiatry and ICU at Brunswick Hospital and Mercy Medical Center respectively. She joined our practice in 2017.
Ms. Kravis has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from SUNY University at Buffalo and a Masters of Science degree from the Adult-Gerontological Nurse Practitioner program at SUNY Stony Brook University. As a student, her clinical training was heavily focused on the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of neurological conditions. During her time as a Registered Professional Nurse, she served as a vital component of the care team at St. Francis Hospital’s Heart Center for over five years. Ms. Kravis is a new addition to our practice.
