Barbara Bumstead, M.S., ANP-C, MSCN
Ms. Bumstead, a Nurse Practitioner in our Comprehensive MS Care Center here at South Shore Neurological Associates P.C., graduated from Nursing School in 1979 and received a Masters of Science in the Adult Health Nurse Practitioner program at SUNY Stony Brook in 1999. Ms. Bumstead has had extensive hospital experience in Neurology and Neurosurgery. She became a Multiple Sclerosis Certified Nurse (MSCN) in 2007. Ms. Bumstead also has extensive knowledge in the management of Intrathecal Baclofen therapy. Ms. Bumstead joined our practice in 2001.
Patricia Grant, M.S., ANP-C
Ms. Grant is the Nurse Practitioner for the Pain Management Group here at South Shore Neurologic Associates, P.C. She is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and received her Nursing degree from Suffolk Community College in 1982, a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Molloy College in 1998, and a Master of Science in Adult Health Nursing from the SUNY–Stony Brook in 2002. Ms. Grant joined our practice in 2002.
Patricia Macdonald, MS, FNP,NP-C
Ms. MacDonald is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a specialization in Attention Deficit Disorder, Dementia, and Headaches. Ms. MacDonald received her Associates in Early Elementary Education from Farmingdale State University in 1978 and received her Nursing degree from Suffolk County Community College in 1999, she then received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from SUNY-Stony Brook in 2006, and a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from SUNY-Stony Brook in 2009. Ms. MacDonald joined our practice in 2009.
Smitha Thotam, NP - C
Ms. Thotam is a Nurse Practitioner for the Comprehensive MS Care Center here at South Shore Neurologic Associates, P.C. Ms. Thotam completed her Bachelor of Science degree with honors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, India in 1996. She is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and received a Master of Science in Adult Health Nursing from SUNY- Stony Brook in 2011. She has extensive experience in medical, surgical, rehabilitation, and critical care fields. Ms. Thotam joined our practice in 2011.
Laura Buck, MS, NP-C, CNRN
Ms. Buck is the Nurse Practitioner for our Epilepsy Center here at South Shore Neurologic Associates P.C. and is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Buck received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Fashion Institute of Technology in 1991, her nursing degree from Suffolk Community College in 2006, and Master of Science in Adult Health from SUNY- Stony Brook in 2011. Ms. Buck is a Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) from the American Association of Neuroscience Nursing. Ms. Buck joined our practice in 2011.
Marijean Buhse, NP-C PhD
Dr. Buhse is a professor at Stony Brook University and Nurse Practitioner in our Comprehensive MS Care Center here at South Shore Neurologic Associates P.C. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from SUNY Downstate, her Masters of Science in Nursing from Lehman College, her Post Masters Certificate from Adelphi University, and her PhD in Nursing from Adelphi University. Ms. Buhse joined our practice in 2012.
Danielle Salomone, MS, ANP
Ms. Salomone has a Bachelors of Science in Physical Education/Physical Science from College of Charleston, a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from St. Xavier University, as well as a Masters of Science from the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at SUNY Stony Brook University. She is a Nurse Practitioner who assists our Physicians at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital as well as seeing patients at our practice. Ms. Salomone joined our practice in 2013.
Pattie Walton, FNP
Ms. Walton received her Associates in nursing from Edna McConnell and Clark School of Nursing of Presbyterian Hospital, her Bachelors in Nursing from SUNY Stony Brook, and her Masters of Science for her FNP from Molloy College. She holds multiple certifications for PICC lines, basic life support, advanced clinical life support, pediatric advanced life support, EKG interpretation, wound management, and infection control. Ms. Walton will be working in our Islip office seeing patients for General Neurology.
Adam Khan, PA
Mr. Khan received his Bachelors of Science in Physcian Assistant Studies from St. John's University. He received his clinical experience at Jamaica Hospital, Flushing Hospital Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, South Shore University Hospital, South Shore LIJ, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, and Wycoff Heights Medical Center. Mr Khan has experience in internal medicine, orthopedics, pediatrics, primary care, surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, geriatrics, and emergency medicine. He will be practicing at all three of our locations.
